My Chemical Romance's The Black Parade Turns 20

Not only is My Chemical Romance’s The Black Parade the biggest concept album in the world of emo, it is widely considered to be one of the most successful emo albums overall.

Following up their breakthrough 2004 record Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge, the New Jersey band stretched themselves to their limits both mentally and physically at times. Black Parade was full of full-throttle bombast and as heard in the gigantic first single “Welcome to the Black Parade”, was intent on crafting the definitive rock opera for millennials.

The result was a huge victory for the band as the album not only sold millions of copies worldwide but was lauded by critics as an ambitious leap into greatness.

Edge Time Machine host Dusty Lalas has more.
