Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson Name Their Favourite Venue to Perform at in Canada

For a band that spent decades touring arenas around the world, choosing a favourite Canadian venue isn’t easy. But for Rush’s Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson, one iconic stage stands above the rest: Toronto’s Massey Hall.

Speaking backstage at the 2026 JUNO Awards, the pair didn’t hesitate when asked where they most loved performing in Canada. Both pointed to the historic venue, describing it as a place filled with memories from the earliest days of Rush’s career.

“It’s just such a beautiful place,” Lifeson said, while Lee reflected on the unique atmosphere that makes every performance there feel special. Beyond its legendary acoustics and rich history, Massey Hall represents home for the Toronto-born rock icons, making each show there especially meaningful.

The venue has been woven into Rush’s story for decades, hosting some of the band’s earliest performances and serving as a landmark in Canadian music history. Even after playing stadiums and arenas across the globe, the intimacy and character of Massey Hall continues to leave a lasting impression.
