Like everyone else in the UK, everyone in Oasis is a big fan of footie, which led to an encounter with Argentinian superstar Diego Maradona.
Oasis had just played a gig in Argentina and were in a bar relaxing with a few drinks. Suddenly, Maradona and his huge entourage entered and went to a private room upstairs. Through an interpreter, Noel and Liam managed to work their way into the party where Maradona was completely whacked out on coke, dancing to loud music and having the best time. But it was so crazy that even Noel and Liam thought they’d better snap a picture and then leave.
That’s when the interpreter leaned over and said, “Just so you know, Maradona says if you leave with any of these women, he’ll have you shot.” Noel and Liam went straight for the door. The atmosphere was so tense that they didn’t need to be asked twice.
