Like anyone else, musicians spend a lot of time watching TV, especially on those long bus rides between gigs. Occasionally, a TV show will inspire a new song.
(1) The guys in Fall Out Boy are big fans of The Flintstones, which explains the song “Disloyal Order of Water Buffaloes,” which references the lodge and bowling team that Fred and Barney belonged to.
(2) “Dragula” from Rob Zombie is named after the custom car on The Munsters, which was a hot rod built around a coffin.
(3) Nirvana’s “Floyd the Barber” is a weird song, but all the characters mentioned are from the old Andy Griffith Show.
And (4) “Tomorrow,” Silverchair’s biggest song, was inspired by a documentary in which a rich band tried to live as a homeless person for a week.
