Released on the second-last day of 1991, The Sugarcubes were both riding high and heading towards dissolution as Bjork began contemplating a solo career. This was the lead single from Stick Around for Joy, the band’s third and final studio album. It was also their most successful single, reaching the top spot on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart. It also made it into the top 20 on the UK singles chart.
As you listen to this, note Bjork’s unique sense of melody. I can’t even begin to imagine how she came up with these melodic lines nor how she was able to remember them.
