Ongoing History Daily: Whatever you do, don't fall off the stage

Corus Radio
When you’re in the middle of a performance in front of thousands of people, you might lose yourself in the music. And when that happens, you might find yourself falling off the stage.
Ask Dave Grohl when it took a fall during the early part of a Foo Fighters set in Sweden in 2015. His leg was badly broken and needed surgery and pins and steel to get him walking again.
He was lucky compared to punk poet Patti Smith. In 1977, she was opening for Bob Seger in Tampa, Florida, when she slipped and fell 15 feet from the stage to a concrete floor. She broke her neck. Fortunately, the injury wasn’t enough to paralyze her but did require months of physical therapy.
