Ongoing History Daily: Loud music makes you drink more

Have you ever wondered why many bars and restaurants insist on playing music so loud while you’re trying to have a conversation?  It could be that they’ve known all along what scientists have confirmed: loud music makes you drink more.

Dr. Nicolas Gueguen of the University of South Brittany in France observed the habits of drinkers on a typical Saturday night.  He noticed that when the music was turned up, they bought more drinks and drank faster.

Apparently, the loud music aroused the brain in such a way that everything was done more and faster–including the drinking.

Something you might wanna observe the next time you go out–you know, in case you keep striking out at the bar.
