When it becomes apparent that your music career is over—or if you decide that you need to get out—it’s time to find a new career.

Dan Spitz played guitar in Anthrax for six albums but then decided that he wanted something other than the rock’n’roll lifestyle. He has since become a master watchmaker and is so good that he teaches others how to repair fine timepieces.

Speaking of metal bands, Bob Rusay was the guitarist in Cannibal Corpse in the late 80s and early 90s. He then bailed to become a highly regarded golf instructor.

And then there’s this: The Stooges were one of the most fierce of the pre-punk bands. When they fell apart in the mid-70s, guitarist James Williamson went on to a career as an electronics engineer. He even designed some computer chips.
