When Oasis hit it big, Noel Gallagher lived in a garishly decorated house at 8 Steeles Road in the Belsize Park area of London. It was easy to find. Too easy, in fact.
It was the house with the words “Supernova Heights” in stained glass over the front door. He and his then-partner Meg Matthews bought it at the height of Britpop in the mid-90s for £2.5 million. It was described as a “rock and roll mansion.” It had things like zebra-print couches and a big gothic bed. Noel also spent something in the order of $700,000 to paint the kitchen with hundreds of little yellow submarines in some kind of Beatles tribute.
When Noel and Meg divorced, the house was sold to David Williams, one of the stars of the UK TV show, Little Britain.
