I remember hearing this song on the radio for the first time. The synth pulse intro was cool enough, but then the bassline kicked in and…wow. So is this from the band’s fourth or fifth album? That’s…complicated.
On September 4, 1981, Virgin Records released a double set called Sons and Fascination/Sister Feelings Call, making it the band’s fourth album. In some markets, the set was released as two separate albums about six weeks later. Depending how you file the record (as a double set or alphabetically by title as single albums), Love Song is either from the band’s fourth or fifth release.
Fun fact: The song was roadtested on a Canadian tour earlier in 1981. It eventually became a top 40 hit in the country.
